Book Covers
I was able to partner with two authors to create the cover for their novella. One of them is a 70's sci-fi inspired book and the other is a punk-rock murder novella. Working with these authors allowed me to learn how to communicate with people to make their vision become tangible.

This novella was a punk-rock-scene inspired story, with a murder and twist. I was given samples of images the author liked for the cover, but I had to find some that were on a stock photo website. The typeface for FEAR is distressed using my pattern presets. The rest of the title was created and modified in Illustrator, then edited in Photoshop to embezzle it and make it appear as if it was punched in. I took inspiration from other 70's punk-rock posters and decided to do a halftone treatment on the image, which I modified and created with a pattern instead of the halftone Photoshop offers. A paper texture is blended to make it look more poster-like.
“Degree of Fear”
The author of this novella had a strict vision and requirements for his cover. He wanted a sanded scene, with the dunes being purple, and having two moons that are orange and blue. To create this, I combined two pictures of sand dunes and gave them the same color gradient and overlay so that they were the same tones of purple across both images. Getting the color treatment right for the sand and the atmosphere was the hardest part. The moons were created in Illustrator as 3D images and imported as smart objects so that I could make them look more like moons. The sky is two pictures of the galaxy with adjustments on top so that they aren't as vivid. Making this appear as a 70's inspired novella cover was the most difficult, but the author enjoyed the end product.
